Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome

Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome

Are you lucky enough to have fallen in love with and married your best friend? Or are you wondering if falling in love with your closest friend could work out for the both of you? Here are four reasons why falling in love with and marrying your number one friend is the most amazing thing ever! I speak from experience: I fell in love with and married my friend and we've been an amazing team ever since. After 20 years of marriage, here's why I think spending the rest of your life with your best friend is awesome!

Falling in love with and marrying your best friend is an amazing feeling!

One of the things that many people claim when their relationships or marriages break up is that the other person 'changed.' Or they never really knew each other to begin with. But when you fall in love with your best friend, don't you already know him inside out?

Loving someone unconditionally without feeling the need to change who they are is one of the things that makes marriages last. The enduring support and encouragement that you get from your best friend is a form of unconditional love. You are allowed to be who you are with that person.

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.

— Ann Landers

Long before you fall in love with and marry your best friend, you'll ly have already met your in-laws and spent quite a bit of time getting to know them.

When you are visiting your closest friend's parents and family there's no awkwardness. You don't have to feel you are being assessed or sized up as relationship or marriage material.

You are just the cool bestie who makes their son or daughter happy.

If your friend has a difficult relationship with his parents and family, there will be no surprises either. As your partner's closest confidante you'll have known many of the family secrets long before you become an official couple. You'll have yours eyes wide-open to your partner's family history, the good, the bad, and the downright funny.

If you and your bestie are both pet-parents, when you fall in love and start a life together, your fur family grows too!

One of the challenges with dating someone who isn't your best friend but rather someone new you just started dating is that as you and your new romantic partner start to spend more and more time together getting to know one another and falling in love, your other friends may start to feel they are being neglected. Your best friend, especially your closest friend of the opposite sex, might start to feel he or she is just tagging along while you and your new boyfriend are having fun together.

If your best friend and your new dating partner have different personalities and interests, you may find your social life and love life being pulled in separate directions.

But when the person you are dating is already your closest chum, then there's no need to worry about anyone getting left out.

All of your other friends already know how tight the two of you are and so no one will feel jealous of the time that you spend together.

Falling in love with and marrying your best friend is an amazing feeling!

Most couples have the standard set of anniversaries: first date, first kiss, first time together, first year as a couple, and so on. When you fall in love with and marry your best friend, you have even more special occasions to celebrate.

You get to celebrate both the day you first met and the day you realized that you were in love with each other. One of the things that I appreciate most about being with my husband is that we have such a long, beautiful shared history.

We have the years that we spent together as each others' closest companions followed by our years together as both as number one friends and married lovers—over 25 years.

Here are even more reasons falling in love with your best friend is so spectacular:

  • You can finish each others' sentences without even trying.
  • You have a huge collection of inside jokes.
  • Normal bodily functions don't get in the way of a good date (and can sometimes be funny, or gross, or both!).
  • You already know how to entertain one another when you are bored.
  • You don't have to put up with the weekend dating scene at clubs and bars anymore.
  • Same goes for online dating—when you fall in love with your best friend, you bypass all the risks associated with online dating. You already know that he's a great, trustworthy guy!

The funny video below is a great illustration of what it's to be in love with your best friend!

What do you think are the upsides to falling in love with and marrying your number one pal? Leave a comment and share your thoughts!

Reasons the Best Relationships Start As Friends

Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome

New Line Cinema

The big fear about falling in love with a friend is that if the relationship goes bad, you're down both a boyfriend and a friend who might have comforted you through the breakup.

It's a big risk, but when it goes right, it pays off big time. Falling in love with a best friend can be the best thing in the world.

We all know the best boyfriends are the ones that feel best friends you get to kiss, anyway.

1. You already have a ton of sweet memories together.  the time you snuck into that house party together, or the time you laughed so hard you shot soda your nose and he totally saw and laughed right along with you. Put all that in the baby book of your relationship.

2. You finally get to find out what it's to kiss them on the lips. Do not sit there and lie to me about how you never thought about it. You obviously thought about it. We all think about it. (P.S. I hope it's everything you imagined and more~.)

3. You've seen what he's as a boyfriend from watching him date other people. You know how devoted he can be and what his style of boyfriend is because you've been in the wings all along, probably giving him advice on how not to screw up his relationships. All that work and advice is gonna come back to benefit you after all.

4. And he's seen what you're as a girlfriend. He knows how infatuated you get early on, and how much you value clear and direct communication. You've basically been coaching each other in your relationships and now you get to just be in one together.

5. You've already met his parents and all of his friends and anyone else who might make you nervous. You don't have to hope and pray for everyone he loves in this world to accept you because they already have. You're just that good.

6. You know all his deepest secrets. All those messy talks most couples have a few months in, when all the tea gets spilled? You guys have already had them and your relationship will be that much stronger from the beginning because of it.

7. You know how to decode all of his little passive-aggressive behaviors.  when his texts get really short, you know it's not personal, and that he's probably dealing with some serious shit and needs to be left alone. You guys get each other — that's what happens when you're friends with someone for years.

8. Nothing in your social life really has to change because this is someone you already spend a ton of time with. That nagging concern that you're ditching your BFF for your new BF is totally taken care of because, voilà, your BFF is now your BF. Pretty sure this is how the phrase “two birds, one stone” came about.

9. Your “how we met” story is cute AF and you know it. I wish I could see the look on everyone's faces when you guys start talking about the slow burn of your friendship turning into a relationship. I'm sure there will be plenty of ooh-ing and ahh-ing. Don't act you don't care about that shit; everyone does.

10. You know about all of each other's nasty breakup stories. He was probably the first person you called after every breakup, which means he's probably comforted you and shared ice cream with you while you cry about how all guys suck. You don't have to have the Big Ex Conversation in this relationship — he's lived through it with you.

11. You know how to cheer each other up. Figuring out how to comfort a new partner when they're feeling down can be really tricky — everyone has different ways of coping with a bad mood or a bad day, and making a wrong move can be semi-disastrous. Lucky for you, you've spent years picking each other up when you get down.

12. You're already super-comfortable around each other. This is a guy who you've farted in front of, who's seen you when you're sweaty and disgusting after spending a whole day outside together, who's seen you both at your absolute worst and absolute best. He's in this for the long haul — but you already knew that, didn't you?

Falling In Love with Your Best Friend – What to Do?

Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome

Friendships are one of life’s greatest joys. Finding someone we can share our heart with — someone who understands and accepts us just the way we are is priceless. When we can have a deep friendship with someone from the opposite sex, it is a tremendous gift.

There is so much to learn and respect about both genders. But at times these opposite-sex friendships can also be a great challenge. One of the most exciting, but frightening, barriers a friendship faces is when one person falls in love with their best friend of the opposite sex.

The feelings are can be intense, and the fear of revealing them can be paralyzing.

The Gut-wrenching Challenges to Secretly Loving your Best Friend

Laura reveals the gut-wrenching challenges she’s facing being secretly in love with her best guy friend: It’s been really hard because sometimes it seems he s me and sometimes it seems very obvious that we’re just friends. It’s torn my heart up on several occasions.

I’m currently trying to get over him, because it’s just too hard to love him from a distance. I don’t want to lose our friendship as we’ve been through a lot together in the years we’ve known each other, but I’d rather save my heart for someone who I know is going to give me his heart fully in return.

It’s okay to have feelings of love because of the trust you share with your best friend, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you are in love. But it does mean you have the ingredients to develop awesome love which could turn into great marriage. Someone once said great friends make great lovers. The longer you’re friends, the more stable your relationship is going to be.

A lot of good friends can do things that romantic partners cannot. Friends usually say what they need to say to each other without fear, and good friends are more ly to be spontaneous with their activities.

How To Know It’s Really Love

Two Warnings if  You Think You Are In Love With Your Best Friend

When you start to feel you are desiring more than just a casual friendship with your best friend and you’re not sure what to do next, let me offer you some advice that could strengthen both your relationship and your love for each other.

First, don’t rush into a romantic relationship with your best friend…many times people confuse love with that other kind of caring love you feel for all of your other friends.

Second, don’t spill your guts right away. You might feel you have to share all your thoughts and feelings with the other person as soon as you start to feel something. That’s usually a mistake.

Javier agrees: This girl and I have known each other for nearly seven years and we have been close friends for about three. Eventually, we did start liking each other and we went out for a month and a few weeks.

After that relationship ended, I didn’t feel very hurt or sad. It was odd.

I found myself being freer and I got to thinking: Don’t rush into [a romantic] relationship with your best friend…many times people confuse love with that other kind of caring love you feel for all of your [other] friends.

Find another good friend you can trust…someone with whom you can verbalize your deep emotions about your best friend with whom you are in love.

This other friend will help you continue to show the self-control of letting a good friendship grow into an even deeper friendship.

Hold your emotions, get them out in a healthy way with another friend. Why chance ruining a good thing, at least for now?

Friendship IS the start of a Real Romance

On the other hand, after you’ve been a good friend with him/her for some time, you should be able to read their moods.

You should be able to get some sense as to whether or not the friendship has developed into more of a romance for him/her, as well as yourself.

If you see these signs, you might want to begin to talk about them with the good friend you so deeply love. After all, good friends should be able to talk about nearly anything.

I think Jane has a great perspective: The only time I would recommend someone reveal their feelings is if they are SURE it is mutual. A really honest friendship will often develop into love without any conscious effort.

And if he doesn’t love you, isn’t having a REAL, HONEST, CARING guy friend better than a boyfriend that might leave you at any moment? Friends are people who you don’t have to constantly worry about leaving you for no reason.

And if he cares for you and stands up for you, he already loves you in a way already.

First and foremost, good friends should know how much each person values the other. We make the mistake of demanding that many of our relationships be all or nothing romantically. Whether the person you are in love with ends up marrying you or not, you have had the joy of experiencing real love.

Real Love

Real love is rich, pure and self-sacrificing. To experience that kind of love with anybody is a priceless gift.

This is how the Bible describes true love:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.  (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

Isn’t that awesome? This verse also describes how God loves YOU!  Trust God as He shows you whether your best friend will become your life’s partner. You may want to pray to God for guidance in this relationship and even have others pray for you.

40 Reasons Why I Love You, My Best Friend

Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome

A best friend is a great blessing in our life. It is the best relationship we get in our lives probably. Having a best friend is a poem, unmatched, not always rhyming and yet beautiful. It’s you meet them and you instantly fall in love with them.

They become your extended family, someone you trust, you love and you count on. You know even if the world turned against you, they will always stand by your side. They are the one you call when you are feeling low, or if something great happens in your life.

You know they never will never judge you and will always give you an honest opinion about everything. You enjoy going through stories, an old letter from a secret admirer and laugh about it. They give you every reason to fall in love with your best friend.

And here, we are giving you 40 reasons why I love you, my best friend.

When I need someone, be it a little help for the projects, or for dealing with some friend problem, or if I had a tiff with my family, you always find a way to help me. Whenever I need you and whatever for, you are always there helping me. You never say no to me for any kind of help. You soothe me a poem soothes a poet or a letter from the beloved soothes the aching heart.

Even when I don’t say a word about it or don’t show it on my face, you somehow always know that I am upset or if something is bothering me. You let me be and don’t push me for telling it to you. You wait until I feel sharing and you know I will eventually.

Rather than just pushing me to tell you why am I upset, you try to put a smile on my face. You do every possible thing for making me happy and forget the reason why I am upset. And that’s the reason why I Love You my best friend, more than anyone and forever.

Distance can never separate us. No matter how far we are or for how long we have not spoken to each other, we always pick up where we had left off. It never feels we haven’t been in touch, or haven’t written even a single letter or email or we haven’t seen each other for a long time. And that’s the reason I Love You, because we connect on a different level.

It feels so great to have a conversation with you that no one else understands. We have our own codes about everything and our own nicknames for everyone. We can talk about anything and everything and yet get away with it. It’s so much fun being with you.

It’s amazing how I know I can always depend on you. No matter what mess I am in or what trouble I have gotten myself into, I know you will help me out. I know I can always count on you for guiding me and keeping me on the right track always and forever.

It’s amazing how you are so confident about yourself. When most of the world is being obsessed about being perfect, you are so comfortable in your skin. This is the reason why I Love You, because you are perfectly happy as you are.

Another reason why I Love You so much is that I know I can tell you anything and everything and you will keep it to yourself forever. You know so many of my secrets, the letter I had written to my crush, some even embarrassing and dirty and yet you keep it locked deep inside your heart.

One of the reasons why I love you my best friend is because you don’t judge me. No matter what I say or do or what someone says about me, you never make an opinion without knowing the complete picture. You know me a poet knows his poem and you keep faith in me. And that’s one among the reasons why we are the best of friends.

When I am distressed and sad, you just know the right things to say. You know how to mend my broken heart. You always find a way to comfort me and get me the sadness. I love you for always being able to cheer me up. You are the best.

You are one person I have utmost faith on. I know that even when everyone is against me, you will be the one person who will stand by me, holding my hand, giving me the courage to fight the whole world. I love you my best friend for being my strength forever.

If I am in the bad mood, or I am acting an irritating and arrogant person, you still refuse to leave me alone. You take all my stuffiness and then give me time to get back to my real self. You and only you can do something this and be so forgiving. I love you for this even more.

Just being with you feels good. Even if we are sitting doing nothing or doing our separate thing, it still becomes the best time of my life. Such is your presence in my life.

No matter how bad my mood is or if I am sulking, watching you laugh at something makes me laugh. I don’t need any joke or anything funny, just your contagious laugh to laugh.

Stress at work, tension with my boss or colleagues, everything fades away as soon as I hear your voice. You make everything sad and dull go away with just the sound of your voice. I love you and I love hearing your voice anytime.

Un others who just say for the sake of saying things, you mean everything you say to me. When you say you love me and that I am the best person you have ever come across, I believe you without a single doubt.

I love you because you know me inside out. You understand my every act,my every mood and my every word. If I am acting un me, you know there have to be a reason when others think I have gone mad.

A tiring lecture, a silly movie or a boring concert, nothing matters when you are around. It's amazing how we find something fun in everything. When you are around, even the dull weather feels beautiful. And I love you the way you make everything feel a lot better with your presence.

I love you for your hard work. You never try to find the quick and the short way of fulfilling your dreams. You always work hard and right to achieve what you want. And you neither let me take any shortcuts. You are my guide.

Almost everyone in the world grabs the chance of putting someone or the other down, making them feel lowly. While you, on the other hand, never do that. You never put anyone down and I love this about you. You respect everyone for what they are.

When it comes to the people you love, you are always there for them. You always keep an eye on them, trying to help them and keeping them any problem or trouble.

I love you honesty. You always say what’s on your mind straightforwardly. You are kind to everyone, be it a human, an animal or even a plant. And you are patient with everyone. I have hardly seen you losing your calm. That’s commendable.

Most people find pleasure in other’s pain. When they see someone cry, they make fun of them. While you, you never laugh when I cry. In fact you lend me your shoulder to cry on and lend your sympathetic ears to my blabbering. I love you for this.

I trust you the most. I trust you with my life and you have earned that trust. And i love the fact that you trust me with the same intensity.

When I am at my very low and losing my heart over the situation, you are always there backing me up. You always push me to find a way out. When I am breaking apart, you hold me together. You are my rock hard support and I love you for that.

You never belittle me. You always try to boost my confidence when I am running low on it. Even when you know it's going to be a lost case, you still encourage me to find a ray of hope and sometimes I do.

I know I don’t have to think before I speak in front of you. I can say anything to you and nothing feels awkward when it comes to talking to you. I can talk silly or senseless or rubbish and I know you will listen.

Even when I am sulking or feeling mad at a very silly thing, you never make fun of me. Instead you take me seriously, trying to solve my problem. I love you so much for being such a best friend to me.

The best thing about friendship is we take pleasure in each other’s success. We are never jealous of each other. And when the rest of the world is trying to pull the other down, we keep pushing each other up to the success. That’s the beauty of our friendship.

Your place will always be yours in my life. No matter who comes or who I get married to, you will always come first. You will always be my first priority. Be sure that even when you call in the middle of the night, I will take the call.

You know all my secrets, some dirty ones as well. But I am not worried. I know even if we are mad at each other, you will still protect my secret. I know you will never use them against me, in any situation. I love you for being so loyal and wonderful friend.

I know you will not judge me. So, I find it easy and comfortable to act stupid around you. I can read a poem or a letter and make a joke of it and you will never mind. I don’t have to be on my best behaviour around you because I know you will understand and will laugh it off. I love you for letting me be me with you.

We are loyal to each other forever and we never question each other’s loyalty. That’s the unsaid deal of friendship. We trust each other and understand each other. And we know beyond doubt that we will not betray each other.

That’s a rule of our friendship that every other friend or girlfriend/boyfriend will need the approval of each other. If any one of us object, the other will terminate the relationship with immediate effect. Well, that’s more because your opinion matters to me and vice versa. No one else is as important to us as we are to each other.

No matter how much workload we have, or how busy we are with anything, we always have time for each other. No matter if we are in the middle of some very important work, we always make time when anyone of us needs the other.

When someone tells us something and asks us not to tell anyone else, it doesn’t include each other for us. It is pertinent that we let the secret out to each other and hide it from everyone else. We are one and we love each other.

Hope, you always keep hold of it for me. When I am disheartened and losing hope, you always find a way of filling me with it. You always lend me your positivity. You never let me sink into despair. I love you for putting so much effort into me always and forever.

When I am in the darkness and am willing to lose myself to it, you always take my hand and take me to the light. You have always managed to pull me the depression and hopelessness. You have always shown me the way when I felt lost and misguided. In darkness, you have always managed to reach for my hand and I love you for holding onto it while guiding me to the right way.

Being best friends means having two families. I love the way you treat my family as your own and that your family treat me as a part of their family as well. It goes the same with me and my family. Your family is my family and you, to my family, is equal to me. This makes out bond stronger.

Everything being said and done, the bottom line of the entire relationship is that you make me a better person. You bring out the best in me. You always teach me right from wrong and you inspire me to do the right thing always. You give me hop and tech me honesty.

A best friend is someone who always guides you to the right way and teaches you right thing. You don’t have to share the same hobbies or love the same poem. They will tell you openly if you are wrong. They don’t judge you and always want the best for you. They always look for the goodness inside you.

A best friend knows when you are sad or depressed. They gladly let you take out fumes on them and bear with your unreasonable and arrogant behaviour. And yet they forgive you. They never resent you. A best friend is a poem, always fresh and pleasant.

You don’t have to be in touch everyday for feeling the connection. And even then you will know your best friend is the one person who will be there for you even at a moment’s notice. You know you can always count on your best friend, be it for your secret, for some help or for lending the ears.

A best friend will always be there, no matter what, no matter when. The love between the two best friends doesn’t need anything to stay alive. It just stays there, irrespective of the conditions or situations.

Even if you meet after a decade, have written letter or not, you will always pick up where you two left off. Such is the love between the best of friends.

The Art Of Falling In Love With Your Best Friend

Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome
Aug 29, 2019 · 5 min readPhoto by Duri from Mocup on Unsplash

It can happen anywhere, and the connection is casual at first. You share a similar hobby or interest, you know the same people, you have similar jobs. Whatever the first thing to bring you together is, you realize this other person is pretty cool and soon they integrate themselves into your regular social circle.

Step Two: Realize you two are way more similar than you realized

Not only do you share the first initial connection, but suddenly you start finding out a ton of other commonalities. They get your stupid jokes that no one else does and you finally found someone else who’s as passionate about the little nuances of your hobbies as you are. You the same foods and music and just seem to get each other.

Step Three: Become Besties

After some time, they’re competing with Mom and the local Chinese food place for most dialed number in your phone. You know each other’s daily schedule and each other’s weird allergies and phobias. When a crisis happens, you’re top of each other’s list to call for support. They’ve gone from being a part of your social circle to a pillar of your life.

Step Four: Make Jokes About How You Should Be Dating/Married

It’s funny, because you both get along with each other better than any of your ex’s. It’s super funny, because you’re both soooo compatable. But obviously, you’re not going to. That’s what makes it so funny.

Step Five: Constantly Explain To Everyone How You’re Just Friends And Nothing More

Every time someone makes a joke about you two dating, you explain in exhausting detail and enthusiasm how that will never happen. You’re just friends. You don’t feel that way about each other. No attraction, nope, totally platonic. They’re not even your type. You two could never work. They’re way too annoying. Absolutely no way in heaven or hell you’d ever date.

Step Six: Catch Feelings

Slowly, you start to notice their eyes. , really notice them. They’re really nice. And the stupid way they walk seems really cute all of a sudden. Then, one day they grab your hand as a joke and your heart jumps. You start to feel that unmistakable pull and your mind starts re-arranging all the emotions inside of it.

Step Seven: Deny Your Feelings

You’re just really close, that’s all. It’s normal to feel this way towards someone you’re so close with. You just love them, you’re not in love with them. There’s a huge difference. You’ve just never been this close with someone before, that’s why you’re confused.

Step Eight: Constantly Talk About People You’re Interested In

Make it clear to them that you have so many crushes. , a ton. You fell in love three times on the way to work. You’re probably going to finally ask that cute barista out. Your date last Friday went so well, but they just weren’t your type. You’re still looking for the right connection. For some reason, none of these people ever materialize into anything. You have no idea why.

Step Nine: Slowly Start To Wonder What Dating Them Might Be

Could it work? You have so much in common…maybe it’s not such a crazy idea. You love the same activities, you’d never run ideas for dates. You already know so much about each other, you trust each other. And…the idea of kissing them doesn’t sound terrible. No, that little heart skip is from the coffee, shut up.

Step Ten: Try And Figure Out If They Might Feel The Same Way

Were they laughing at your joke because it was funny or just because you told it? Was that a glance your way when you weren’t looking? When the conversation lulls, they smile at you.

What kind of smile is that though? Is that a friend smile or a “you’re cute” smile? You make increasingly suggestive jokes to see how far they’ll go.

One day they lean against you while watching a movie…but you’re still not sure.

Step Eleven: Finally Admit Your Feelings To Yourself

Yes, fine. You do want to kiss their stupid lips. When they text you in the morning, you smile and reply right away. Seeing them makes your heart do a ballet in your chest. You love your friendship, but you realize that you want more.

Step Twelve: Make Your Move

You’re not brave enough to do it sober of course. You wait for the perfect opportunity where you’ve both had enough alcohol to blame it on that if it goes poorly. You find yourself in exactly the right place.

You swear you can feel the pull from them as you get close. Finally, you go for it. And they kiss you back. And your heart does gymnastics. It feels different with them, it feels right. You stop it before it goes too far though, because this is them, not just a hookup.

Your heart couldn’t take a one-night stand with them.

Step Thirteen: Now It’s Awkward

The next morning, in the cold light of day, it’s no fairy tale. They’re quieter than usual. They don’t respond as quickly. You try to save it.

Last night wasn’t a big deal. Just the alcohol. It’s only a big deal if we make it a big deal.

Slowly, you both move on. Well, on the surface. Business goes back to usual, you repeat steps Seven and Eight over and over.

Step Fourteen: Get Jealous

They meet someone cute. Really cute. And they really them. And you’re supportive. But are they sure? New Cute Person isn’t what they deserve. They deserve more. They deserve better. Also, now they’re on dates with them and not texting you back and you feel angry for the first time ever.

Step Fifteen: Finally Admit Your Feelings

You don’t want to be mad at them. You want to be honest. So, you finally pony up. One day, when you’re both hanging out, you begin to steer the conversation in that direction. And once you get close enough, they finally tumble out. Well, mostly, it’s an abridged version, but they get the idea.

Step Sixteen: Get Officially Rejected

They value your friendship more than anything, but they just don’t feel that way. Your heart hits your stomach but you hide it. You nod and smile.

It’s ok, I kind of figured. I just wanted to be honest.

They assure you they care about you more than anything. You kind of zone out, your mind and heart cocooning a caterpillar. You just smile and nod, smile and nod. Back to business as usual, no big deal.

Step Seventeen: Try To Return To Normal

There’s a lot of missteps. Your heart is tender for a long time, you wonder if it’ll ever fully heal. You fight more now, about little things. But if you really care about each other, you fight through it. But both of you know, whatever develops now will be very different than before. It could be better, it could be worse, but only time and love will tell.

5 Reasons Falling In Love With Your Best Friend Is The Worst

Four Reasons Why Falling in Love With Your Best Friend Is Awesome

Sometimes you can’t help but fall in love with your best friend. The closeness and the relationship seem so surreal that you want more from it. And although fighting this feeling is some sort of a lost cause it might help to read some of this reasons why you should TRY to avoid it.

1. It’s Risking More Than You Want To Lose

I get the idea that having a girlfriend /boyfriend in a form of your best friend is the best thing that you could hope for because she/he gets you and makes things a lot easier.

But your idea of it is utterly WRONG! Because it would be impossible even for you to assume the role of best friends while there are more feelings involve.

Once the line is crossed it would be difficult to go back to the “best friend zone” thus risking the friendship for the uncertainty of going for more.

2. The Confidant You Once Have Will No Longer Be There

As I have clearly mentioned above, there is no mixing up the 2 roles so if you happen to went into an argument and wants someone to listen to you and vent all your frustrations, Sorry that someone was the one you just fought with and this is where the realization of the division you have crossed become evident. Gone is the person who is willing to smack you on the head if you’re being stupid but at same time will still sit with you and listen to all your shit.

3. Hanging Out and Small Talk Out In the Window. Kaput!

Your best friend is someone who you could talk to for hours without even having to consciously think of the words you have to say, you are so at ease that you could say just about anything and talk about whatever you feel talking.

You just hang out because being around each other already makes things light No Pressure No Expectation.

This will never happen again if there is more between the two of you because now, you would have other concerns and small talk and easy things are no longer entertaining.

4. You Want More You Need To Give More

Since it is clear that you want an upgrade of the relationship, bear in mind that this change also comes with truckload of responsibility. You have to invest time not whenever you it but EVERY TIME. Why? Because the normal hanging out, grabbing lunch activity no longer apply.

There are more demands and meeting those demands means losing time for yourself which will eventually take a toll from you at the stretch of the relationship.

Before this you can still excuse yourself, remember? Another thing, the PRIVILEGE you used to give your best friend for “Being There” is NOW an OBLIGATION to fulfill.

5. It Changes You Whether You It Or Not

Remember when you use to be objective and emphatic to your best friend? That you feel them and try to understand at which side they are coming from because you want to make things better if it’s not and even better if it is? Now it will be more difficult especially if you’re the one at the end of the stick and the issue might be coming from you.

What else would change? Before you use to lay out all your cards and put everything out there because you are in the safety of the “Best Friend Zone”. This zone is your support, your anchor, your ally against whatever is out there.

Now, you start to build a layer of protection, you hide things because you feel you’re vulnerable, you’re exposed and the ally that you have has the ability to HURT you now, badly.

When you are in love you are so blinded by the feeling and forget to think about the potential consequences of wanting more from the relationship you have. You think that everything will turn out good because at that very moment everything seems magical but reality bites and when it does, IT SUCKS! So a foreword before betting on your friendship might not be bad at all.

It is not wrong to fall in love with your best friend but you have to make sure it is for all the right reasons, you both feel the same way and the most important thing is that, you are both aware of the risk you’re entering to.

Don’t just dive in because of the spur of the moment, discuss it together and think it through.

You get to have a few best friends in a life time and sometimes you get to have only one and it would be nice to keep them forever and even stupendous, if they can also be the one to complete you.
